The Little Girl Who Wouldn’t Shut Up

1940's vintage rayon dress, antique plastic buttons: Bakelite, Celluloid, Catalin, Lucite
One in a series of self-portraits, this is an old rayon dress covered with an abstract “painting” of colored buttons sewn on. There are so many different types of buttons it can almost be seen as a primer on the history of the American button manufacture. Of course the phrase, “Button up” is suggested, having heard that a lot in my youth.
